2020 Fall School Reopening Notice

August 14, 2020

Dear SEEM Collaborative Community,

I am pleased to present to you the SEEM Collaborative Fall Reopening Plans **.  These plans are divided up into sections including an Executive Summary, an Introduction to the Full In-Person, Hybrid, and Fully Remote Plans, and the Feasibility Study that was completed that guided our recommendations.

The goal of these plans is to bring back as many students as possible, in-person, to the greatest extent possible and safely.

These plans have been developed using a variety of information including peer reviewed research regarding COVID-19, the leadership team and nurses working group, family and staff surveys, and the latest guidance and recommendations from DESE, DPH, CDC, and other reliable sources.

Our community has come together over the past few months in remarkable ways to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Every one of us has been impacted in a number of different ways, but we have worked hard collectively to do whatever it takes to meet each individual where they are at and we approached all circumstances from a place of care.  For that, I am grateful!

While we still find ourselves confronted with a great deal of uncertainty, I continue to believe wholeheartedly that we will meet the needs of each student, family, and each other if we continue to use the following priorities as our guide:

  1. Health and physical safety.
  2. Mental health, well-being, and stabilization.
  3. Learning and service delivery.

These plans are working documents and will be adjusted as additional research, subcommittee work, feedback and information become available.  Our overall goal is to create the best learning environment possible while maintaining the health, safety, and social emotional well-being of our staff and students.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer

Sincerely,

Catherine Lawson
